Embracing You Without Injectables

I want to speak to you from my heart.

I would love to have you eavesdrop on the conversations I am having with other estheticians in my profession. We often speak about the disparity between the face that our client sees in their mirror and the face that we see in our treatment rooms. And I only wish that you, my client, could look into the mirror and see, in your reflection, the beauty that I see. I am talking about true beauty, the kind we see every day in the faces of our clients, our friends, our children, and even strangers. This personal beauty is universal - a beauty that transcends gender, race, income, and cultural differences.

Some teens and young adults feel pressured to choose injectables to compete with airbrushed models, picture-perfect Instagram posts, or viral Tik Tok videos. But how does facial paralysis equal perfection? It doesn’t. The muscles that control our facial expressions show the world how we enjoy this life, and even how we suffer. Your face is a reflection of your heart, and that is truly beautiful.

Many of you know that I feel that the beauty industry’s marketing technique, of promoting injectables as a way to remain ageless, is detrimental to our young people. Now, I don’t judge those who get injectables, because everyone has their reasons. However, I often wish that as a society, we could embrace the reality of aging, and do so gracefully. We all are on the same path, and we should celebrate the experiences that have left fine wrinkles around our joyful eyes, furrows on our worried brows, and laugh lines around our smiles - these are the features of a life well-lived, and a person well-loved. Your beautiful face is a vision of your humanity for all to see. Please don’t immobilize it!

The Dangers of Neurotoxins & the Brain

Are weakened muscles, limited facial functionality, and potential brain damage worth the quest to fit the entertainment industry’s very narrow definition of beauty? Hell no. Don’t be bullied. Celebrate your own perfect beauty.

It makes me want to cry when I listen to my clients, who are in their late teens and early 20’s, say that they want to wake up beautiful, and they think that means they should start having Botox or fillers injected to prevent the signs of aging down the road. But I’m going to let you in on the same secret I tell them... that the neurotoxins they think they want, actually paralyze their muscles, and with repeated injections over time, can permanently weaken their muscles. There are even studies that have found that neurotoxins also affect the brain’s sensory mapping abilities.

Recent research is showing that exposure to these neurotoxins has a negative effect on the brain. One report, written by a professor of Neurology, Richard E. Cytosine, reveals that injections in the face and forehead rearrange the brain’s sensory map. The study found that people who normally get regular injections over an extended period of time can experience the permanent rearrangement of their brain’s sensory map. The article explains that the limited (3 months long) paralysis caused by the neurotoxin, deprives the brain of sensory inputs normally generated by the forehead and facial movement. For more information, see Richard E. Cytosine’s article; Facial Botox Alters your Brain - Literally, and Possibly for the Worse (4/4/2019).

Preventative & Non-Invasive Anti-Aging

One of the best ways to slow the aging process is using sunblock daily. It is estimated that 90% of aging is due to the effects of the sun. The sun inflames our skin and triggers it to protect itself, causing proteins in our skin to break down resulting in discoloration and loss of structural (collagen and elastin) integrity.

Microneedling is a beautiful treatment that helps in the journey to age gracefully. When microneedling the skin, small microscopic injuries (similar to pinpricks) are created in the skin which causes the body to create a new collagen and elastin matrix. This process will even out the texture and tone and over time, fade out fine lines and wrinkles, and improve acne scars.

Microcurrent is a client favorite - - who wants to look their best at any age? Microcurrent is a workout for the muscles in your face and neck. By using electrical currents that mimic the current that runs through our bodies, it increases cellular ATP thereby stimulating collagen. Muscles are lifted and toned, resulting in tighter, firmer, and healthy glowing skin. This treatment is NOT painful, has no downtime, and is often referred to as a non-surgical facelift.

You are All Blessed with Beauty

Maybe the recent legislation in Europe to ban injections for anyone under the age of 18 will bring much-needed awareness around the effects of injectables. I want to protect my clients from unnecessary pressure. I want them to know that they have been blessed with a beautiful face.

Along with my professional group of estheticians, I want you to know that we see your beauty, we love your movement, your expressions, and your ability to communicate with all the different parts of your face.

Choosing injectables is NOT the norm.

It is okay to say ‘no’ to neurotoxins that dam the flow of communication between your nerves and your muscle cells. It is okay to choose to have as much cellular communication as possible between our biological and energetic fields in every part of our face and body.

You are beautiful. You are seen. You are unique.

There is no one in the world who is quite like you, and you would be doing yourself a disservice by trying to look like someone else.

Be YOU as only YOU can be, and dazzle us all!!
