Do You See The Light?

LED Light Therapy For Skin

Lighten Your World with LED Treatments

When providing facial treatments for age-management and acne clearing, I often recommend adding on the Celluma LED panel. The Celluma panel is part of any microneedling treatment or series of treatments at Skintopia in Scottsdale, Arizona. Clients often do not understand the impact that this treatment can have on their skin, so I thought I would shed some light on the technology and benefits.

How LED Light Works

LED (Light Emitting Diode) delivers enhanced d light at a specific wavelength to stimulate the products of adenosine triphosphate (since that is a mouthful, we will refer to it as ATP), the fuel/energy of the cell. Increasing the ATP triggers many actions within the skin including, tissue repair, increase of lymphatic system, stimulation of the production of collagen, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reducing p-acne bacteria on the surface of the skin, and a decrease in inflammation and pain. Red LED was first used by NASA for use in space for astronauts.

LED Light Treatments & Effects

I love my Celluma panel! Celluma is the only panel device that is FDA-cleared to treat with blue, red and infrared simultaneously. The treatment is for all skin types, and is non-invasive, painless, and requires absolutely no downtime. You can return to your normal activities immediately after the treatment.

For best results, a series is always recommended. That means coming in for treatment two to three times a week for 4 weeks. The LED treatment lasts 30 minutes. You can add it into a treatment for $35 or book a series of just the panel itself for $375.

Why so many treatments you ask? Because your wrinkles and/or acne did not appear overnight. It takes time to treat the conditions, which also includes a commitment to a home care program. If you want to see results, in order for me to provide those results, you have to be willing to listen and follow my suggestions.

Different Settings for Different Use Cases

The Celluma console device has three settings:

  • The Acne setting emits blue light at a wavelength of 465 nanometers (nm). When using this setting, it will emit the greatest amount of blue light, some red and a smaller amount of infrared. Blue LED penetrates only a few mm into the epidermis and is beneficial in treating acne. It creates a ‘death cycle’ of the P. acnes bacterium (P-Acne).

  • The Age-Management setting emits red light at a wavelength of 640 nm. When choosing this setting, it emits the most equal amounts of blue, red and infrared LED. Red LED penetrates a bit deeper than blue, about 8 – 10 mm, and stimulates fibroblasts, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, therefore treating fine lines & wrinkles. This also works wonderfully for inflamed skin suffering from acne.

  • The Aches & Pains setting emits infrared light at a wavelength of 880 nm. Choosing this setting emits the greatest amount of infrared, a smaller amount of red and an even smaller amount of blue LED. This wavelength penetrates deeper than red, about 30 – 40 mm and is beneficial in treating arthritis, muscle spasm, muscle & joint pain, muscle tissue tension, joint & muscle stiffness, diminished local circulation and post-surgical healing. I have used this after a work-out that leaves me sore.
